Who Am I?

Who am I? I am a quilter/photographer. Thats pretty simple right?

I am a quilt designer, quilt builder and pattern writer. Sounds like a lot, but I really enjoy the process of design, construction and specification — wait a minute — that is what I used to do for a living. Who knew that engineering degree would sneak in at some point or another.

I am actually a retired Civil Engineer and I have discovered during my career my passion for photography since I had the pleasure of working for the US Forest Service and National Park Service. Who wouldn’t develop a passion for photography with all those glorious places to work in.

As for the quilting, I was always intrigued with fabrics, patterns and color. The list can go on and on and on…

I started designing quilts about 20 years ago, but never put pen to paper until 13 years ago, I was asked to ghost-write a pattern for another designer. At that point I decided, I could do this and I created my first published pattern, which was a border design for a set of coordinated blocks at a local quilt shop. After that - I was off and running. This venture started with a challenge issued to create a quilt featuring the Up and Away Balloon Panel. I created two of them and they were shown in the Hoffman Projects Catalog in the Fall of 2019. So in September 2019 my website went live and here we are.

These were the first two patterns published under the Windmill Quilts label. If you scroll through this site, you will see I have been very busy…….

So I will say Adios for now till next time.
